A guest house is a private tourist accommodation,
unlike those that exist in Europe, and which differs from
other structures due to its reduced accommodation capacity,
its location in a tourist or patrimonial environment.
Our commitment
as a member of the association:
- Reception of guests The
house rules and the running of each house are defined in
a document given to guests upon their arrival.
A welcome tea served with local cakes is served to each
guest upon arrival: if the host is present, he will personally
receive the guests.
So that the guest feels at home, a complete tour of the
house will be proposed when he arrives.
- Transparancy
Each reservation request is studied with care: the reservation
procedure must be simple and confirmed according to the
initial terms agreed upon with the client. Any publicity,
photos which show or describe the house must confer to reality.
The price reflects the quality of the service (detailed
in the prices): a personal welcome, the house must be clean,
the personnel must be professional, a copious and quality
breakfast service must be provided (Moroccan, apart from
if the client requests otherwise), bathroom equipment must
be in perfect working order, beds must be comfortable and
of good quality, towels must be clean and of good quality.
-
Intimacy
The house must be of human size with a limited capacity:
under no circumstances the number of guests must exceed
this capacity.
Service inside the house must be discreet, considerate and
preserve the intimacy of guests :
- Personnel must be present at all times or a key given
to guest so that he has access to the house at any time
The guest must be independent if he desires; breakfast
times and room services must be adapted to the guest’s
rhythm (any eventual exceptions will be noted in the welcome
leaflet given to guests on arrival)
- The host must guarantee a certain tranquillity inside
the house.
- Service
In each house, a certain number of services must be
included depending on the standing :
- Elements such as bathrobes, babouches, bath oils, soap,
shampoo as well as tissues should be provided
- Bed linen and towels should be provided
- A bottle of water should be in the bedroom upon the
guest’s arrival
- Attention may be paid to particular details depending
on each house.: cakes, fruit…
The guest house commits itself to offer a restaurant service
only to its clients. Under no circumstances should the restaurant
be open to the public.
Members must respect legislation and commit themselves to
use the services of registered professionals for any service
which does not involve the guest house’s own activity.
- Refinement
The setting must be well kept: the house must be constructed
in the local style, renovated with traditional material.
The decoration, even if it is simple, must be of good taste,
gardens and terraces should be tendered with care.
Space:
- Each bedroom should possess a private area that has
been devised to be restful and peaceful and must contain
a minimum amount of equipment, sometimes with a living
area
- As well as the private areas, the house must possess
communal areas reserved for people invited by guests:
living/dining room, gardens, terraces and/or patios.
- Authenticity
Each house is unique due to its own character:
- Decoration and fittings must be of good taste
All houses must be traditional:
- In their architecture, fittings or decoration (local
craftsmanship and traditional Moroccan material).
Breakfast should be typically Moroccan (apart from if the
client asks otherwise), copious and of quality.
In order to create the characteristic atmosphere that is
found in houses built around the interior garden, there
should be fresh flowers, plants and shrubs in order to brighten
and freshen the atmosphere, a fountain on the patio, the
communal areas should be decoratively lit in the evenings…
- Conviviality
Each house should have its own atmosphere thanks to
the personality and presence of its hosts. A riad, a kasbah
or a traditional house should invite the guest to discover
a lifestyle that is different from the European way of life
showing the guests how the bulding is built to house the
different branches of the family whilst at the same time
allowing the possibility to be isolated in a quiet spot
or reunited.
- Customs and laws
Guest houses should respect and make their guests respect:
- Customs, habits, traditions and laws in force in Morocco.
- Explain that certain clothes can be inappropriate for
public places, especially in the Medina, the derbs and
on the terraces belonging to the guest house.
- The intimacy of neighbouring houses must be respected.
- Correct behaviour during evenings spent on the terrace,
respect the neighbours by keeping the noise down.
Each house must:
- Be insured (as a commercial accommodation establishment)
in order to cover the risks of possible incidents or accidents
during each guest’s stay.
- Declare the establishment with the norms, rules and
obligations in force in Morocco as regards to accommodation.
- Take part in, either on a personal or collective level,
any preservation or protection scheme that concerns the
heritage of Morocco organised by any other association
and/or in collaboration with local authorities.
